As-Salaam-Alaikum
In the Name Of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful; Who Came in the Person of Master Fard
Muhammad. We forever thank Allah for blessing us with His Last and Greatest Messenger, the
Honorable Elijah Muhammad(PBUH).
Dear Brother:
The Messenger has said many things complimentary about many people. He has stated that Martin
Luther King was a very sincere Brother. Do you think the Messenger intended for us to begin to
March and marry white women justr because of his remarks? He praised Minister Malcolm for his
great work while he was a Minister in the Nation of Islam. Does that mean that you should have
followed Malcolm when he defected against the Honorable Elijah Muhammad? He stated that
Farrakhan was his one of his best preachers and that we should pay close attention, even giving him a
full compliment by telling us to follow him wherever he goes. Do you really think the Messenger meant
that we should follow Farrakahn to Wallace and defect from his Teachings, as both he and Wallace
did? Do you really think that? And what about the great Muhammad Ali, a man whom the Messenger
of Allah spoke of with such wonderful praise and pride; do you think that when the Messenger
expelled him the Nation and even retracted his Holy name, that we should have taken of the life style
of Ali and forsaken the Honorable Elijah Muhammad for the world of sport and play? Is that what you
think? Because, that is exactly what you would have us believe when you make such unfounded claims
regarding Clarence 13X.
Example; after becoming disillusioned with the political atmosphere of Muhammad's Temple No. 26 in
1968, one of my former Squad Leaders, Brother Lt. Samuel X Upton, took a band of FOI whom he
had converted to Islam from his former gangster and criminal past in the small town of Vallejo
California and started selling candy door to door until they had amassed a small fortune. Outside the
authority of the Mosque, they eventually took the program all over the western USA, making hundreds
of thousands of dollars in the process. As they sold candy, they recruited other Lost-Founds young
men, converting them and teaching them Islam. Within two years, they had a small nearly 100 soldiers
under the command of a truly great Brother and with strong purpose and direction. They were being
successful. Profits from the sale of the candy was sent back to the wives and an assigned business
"agent" who then invested the money into a bakery, grocery store, full service station, and a small
shopping center, and other realestate holdings in Vallejo California; the home of most of the original
founders of this group of young, talented, and disciplined Black FOI. Muhammad's Temple 26 of
SanFrancisco refused to acknowledge these Brothers and eventually ostracize then from the ranks.
This proved to be very shortsighted and tragic decision of the part of Minister Henry Majied and
Captain Jerry B X Epsom. All Registered Muslims in the SanFancisco-Oakland Bay Area were told to
stay clear and to avoid contact with Lt. Samuel and his men or face class "F" status. For some reason,
these Brothers began to arm themselves and to practice a more militant form of Islam while on the
road. Somehow, a conflict erupted in Baton Rogue Louisiana and a full scale gun battle took place
between Brother Lt. Samuel's Men and the local police department. Much of the gun battle was
carried on the six o'clock news all over America. It was an amazing thing to see. FOI in suits,
fearlessly rapid firing in a squatted position at white police officers from behind cars and buildings,
somewhat reminiscent of the major battle sequence in the popular motion picture "Heat." In the end,
Brother Lt. Samuel and his oldest son were killed. Many Brothers and several police officers were
seriously and permanently injured. All who were caught and arrested were found guilty of numerous
offenses and were given lengthy prison sentences. The Honorable Elijah Muhammad was watching the
news when this incident was played and after watching the fearlessness and warrior like spirit
exhibited in these Brother, the Messenger reportedly told the Minister in Phoenix who was in his
presence, that these Brothers appeared to be fearless Black men. Later, when contacted by the new
media, the Messenger was asked if these men were with him. The Messenger reportedly replied that
they were not his follower, but they showed no fear. Do you think the Messenger intended for us to
now arm ourselves in paramilitary fashion?
My point in relating this that the Honorable Elijah Muhammad said many positive things about all kinds
of people. But that did not mean that he approved of the program or steps that these individuals were
promoting or advocating. So what if the Messenger made complimentary remarks about a few
Brothers studying the Lessons. So what? Did he ever indicate that his followers should follow the
example of Clarence 13x and begin to teach non-Registered Muslims outside the structure of the
Nation of Islam? Did he ever use the jargon of Calrence 13X? Did he ever have a Muhammad Speaks
Newspaper article on these brothers? Of course not and you can never take an alleged complement to
imply that he would have ever approved of the present teachings of 5%'er.
And yes, I said Clarence was guilty of treason and desertion. He was an FOI and wrote a Letter to
Master Fard Muhammad which amounts to an oath. He violated his oath and deserted his unit and in
any military organization, that is called desertion. During a time of war, like the War of Armageddon,
the punishment for such a crime is death by firing squad! Show and prove me wrong on this!
The period during which Clarence 13X left the nation of Islam was a period of tremendous growth and progress. Nobody outside of New York ever hear of Clarence 13x and if they had, they would have just considered him as another hypocrite. Every city had these little dissatisfied Brothers who left the Mosque and set their own little Temples or Mosque. We has three such hypocrites in the SanFrancisco-Oakland Bay area
and we treated them just like they were...hypocrites. Each of them claimed to be better able to teach our people, but
the Honorable Elijah Muhammad never sent them normal National correspondence nor national Officials to monitor their work. They were outside the nation and as such, they were not in accordance with the Honorable Elijah Muhammad.
They could not attend Savior's day nor were they ever invited to the Messenger's home for consultation. To be perfectly honest with you, I have never met any of these so-called 5% people and I knew nothing of them until about two years ago when they started posting on my web site. They are still quite insignificant.
As-Salaam-Alaikum
Your Brother,
